I was deeply saddened and pained to learn about the tragic demise of Grade-I Police Constable Thiru A. Dharmaraj (aged 56) belonging to the Band of the Tamil Nadu Special Police Training Centre at Avadi, Chennai, who suddenly fainted while on duty during the Independence Day Parade held yesterday (15.08.2026) at Fort St. George, and passed away at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital without responding to treatment.
The loss of Grade-I Constable Thiru A. Dharmaraj is an irreparable loss to the Tamil Nadu Police Department and his bereaved family.
Expressing my heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the family, relatives, and colleagues of Thiru A. Dharmaraj, I have ordered the sanction of Rs. 30,00,000/- (Rupees Thirty Lakhs only) as relief assistance to his family.
