Various Announcements by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru S. Joseph Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly under Rule 110 on behalf of the Health and Family Welfare Department
Hon'ble Speaker,
"The value of a human life should not be determined by their income." To provide equitable and quality healthcare to all, the following announcements are made under Rule 110:
(i) A world-class 400-bed Multispeciality Tertiary Hospital will be established at Perambur in North Chennai at an estimated cost of Rs. 300 crore.
(ii) Under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), the annual medical coverage limit for free treatment will be enhanced from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh. Specialized medical and surgical services for transgender individuals will be extended to 7 additional Government Medical College Hospitals (Stanley Chennai, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Chengalpattu, Thiruvarur, Dharmapuri, and Kanyakumari).
(iii) At an outlay of Rs. 351 crore, 6,098 additional student seats will be created across Government Medical Colleges: 7 new Government Nursing Colleges (660 B.Sc. seats), 1,925 additional nursing seats, 2,778 seats across 12 allied health sciences, and 735 pharmacy seats.
(iv) The 'Chief Minister’s Cancer Care Mission' will be implemented at Rs. 673.44 crore. An integrated G+14 floor oncology block will be constructed at Rajiv Gandhi Govt General Hospital Chennai (Rs. 471.80 crore). Regional Cancer Care Centres will be established in Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Madurai (G+8 block at Rs. 84 crore), Tirunelveli, and Viluppuram. Modern robotic surgery, LINAC radiation, equipment (Rs. 106.17 crore), and HPV DNA screening for 1.22 lakh women in 5 districts (Rs. 8.70 crore) will be undertaken.
