Press Release No : 557 Date: 19.08.2026 Clarification Regarding False News in the Media Alleging Tender Violations in the Execution of Administrative Office Facilities for Block-1, Block-2, and Block-3 on the 10th Floor, Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai, Secretariat, Chennai. False news has been published in the media regarding building works undertaken on the 10th floor of Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai, Secretariat, Chennai. The factual position is as follows:- Only the clearing of furniture like tables, chairs, and microphones from the 10th-floor conference hall was undertaken to shift it to the Kalaivanar Arangam complex as per G.O. (Ms.) No. 42, Public Works (G2) Department dated 23.02.2007 and Unofficial Note, Public Department, efile No. 5027/Buildings/2026-1, dated 23.07.2026. It is clarified that this clearing activity has no connection whatsoever with the administrative office creation works invited under the tender. The works for administrative office facilities will commence only after scrutinizing the bids received until the last date of 01.09.2026 and issuing work orders to the lowest bidder (L1-Tenderer). As per the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Rules, 2000 and G.O. (Ms.) No. 19, Finance Department, dated 20.01.2023, a minimum time of 15 days must be provided from the date of tender notification release to the last date of receipt for works valued below Rs. 10 crore.
