Press Release No : 562 Date: 21.08.2026 PRESS RELEASE In accordance with the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru S. Joseph Vijay, the Government of Tamil Nadu has issued orders to release a total of 174.96 million cubic feet (mcft) of water from the Mordhana Reservoir constructed across Kaundanya River at Mordhana Village, Gudiyatham Taluk, Vellore District, at the rate of 75 cusecs into Kaundanya River, 75 cusecs into the Left Main Canal, and 75 cusecs into the Right Main Canal (totalling 225 cusecs / second) continuously for 9 days from 24.08.2026 to 01.09.2026. 2. Through this water release, 8,366.70 acres of agricultural land in Vellore District and Gudiyatham Taluk will benefit from irrigation facilities.
