Press Release No : 573 Date: 22.08.2026 PRESS RELEASE Mega Private Sector Job Fair Held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ashok Nagar, Chennai Under the Department of Employment and Training, a mega private sector job fair was organized on 22.08.2026 at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ashok Nagar, Chennai, led by the Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources Thiru N. Anand and the Hon'ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development Thiru J. Mohamed Parvez. 283 private employers—including Ashok Leyland, MRF, Kaleeswari Refinery, Bandhan Bank, Airtel, TAFE, MIOT Hospital, L&T, Tech Mahindra, and Royal Enfield—and 10 skill training institutes participated. 9,671 registered jobseekers attended interviews. Outcomes: • 2,973 candidates (1,828 men, 1,145 women) including 25 persons with disabilities secured direct placement orders. • 316 candidates cleared first-round interviews for subsequent screening, taking total placement beneficiaries to 3,289. • 57 candidates enrolled for skill training, 97 registered for overseas employment, and 21 underwent psychometric assessments.
