CM Announces Relief for Victims of Thanjavur AC Compressor Blast That Killed One

PRESS RELEASE Condolence and financial assistance to the families of the deceased and injured in the accident that occurred while repairing an air conditioner at a private restaurant near Santhapillai Gate, Puduppattinam village, Thanjavur Taluk, Thanjavur District, on 18.05.2026 Announcement by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic accident that occurred at around 4.20 PM on 18.05.2026 at a private restaurant near Santhapillai Gate, Puduppattinam village, Thanjavur Taluk, Thanjavur District, in which the compressor of the establishment's air conditioner exploded while being repaired, killing Thiru Ravi Raj (aged 27), S/o Jothi Ponnavalar. I have also ordered special medical treatment for four persons who sustained serious injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment — Thiru Sathikesan (aged 42), S/o Baliaperumal; Thiru Premkumar (aged 26), S/o Duraisamy; Thiru Mahesan (aged 40), S/o Vijayan; and Thiru Arunkumar (aged 27), S/o Xavier — as well as for Thiru Ajithkumar (aged 27), S/o Lakshmanan, who sustained minor injuries and is undergoing treatment. I convey my deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased and his relatives. I have also ordered that Rs. 3 lakh be given to the family of the deceased, Rs. 1 lakh each to the four persons who sustained serious injuries and are undergoing hospital treatment, and Rs. 50,000 to the person who sustained minor injuries, from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
