CEC Engages with Youth and Grassroots Poll Machinery at Chennai Regional Conference
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) addressed around 1,000 students and educators and interacted with over 500 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during the ECI Regional Conference on “ELC & ECINET” held at Kalaivanar Arangam on 27.08.2026.
The conference, organized by the Election Commission of India in coordination with the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Tamil Nadu, served as a collaborative platform to advance youth engagement and grassroots electoral preparedness across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Highlighting BLOs as the backbone of Indian democracy, the Commission reviewed on-ground electoral roll updates, door-to-door verification, and modern tech tools. Senior ECI officials made key presentations: Thiru Ashish Goyal (DG Media) on ELC & Voter Education, Dr. Seema Khanna (DG IT) on the ECINet App, Thiru Bhanu Prakash Yeturu (DEC) on Electoral Transparency, and Thiru Apurva Kumar Singh (Deputy Director) on ELC 2.0.
