Press Release No : 598 Date: 28.08.2026 PRESS RELEASE Extension of Deadline to 05.10.2026 for Receiving Applications Under the Best Book Award Scheme To provide an extended opportunity for authors and publishers of books published in 2025 under the Best Book Award Scheme implemented by the Tamil Development Department, the last date for submitting completed applications has been extended up to 05.10.2026. Books are invited under 33 categories. For each category, the selected author will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- and the publisher will receive a commendation prize of Rs. 25,000/-, totaling Rs. 75,000/- per book. Applications can be downloaded free from tamilvalarchithurai.tn.gov.in and sent by post with 5 copies of the book and Rs. 100/- Demand Draft in favor of 'Director of Tamil Development, Chennai'.
