In accordance with the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru S. Joseph Vijay, in view of deficit rainfall caused by El Nino conditions, to recharge groundwater for drinking water schemes implemented along the Amaravathi River and fulfill drinking water needs in Tiruppur and Karur districts, the Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered water release from Amaravathi Dam via river sluices at 1,000 cusecs per day for 8 days from 30.08.2026 to 07.09.2026, and depending on storage and inflows, for an additional 4 days if needed.
