PRESS RELEASE Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department A review meeting on the National Health Mission and health welfare activities at the state level, chaired by Hon'ble Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Dr. K.G. Arunraj and held in the presence of the Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary, was conducted on 21.05.2026 at the National Health Mission conference hall at the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services office complex, Teynampet. At the meeting, the Hon'ble Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare instructed that quality medical services be extended to benefit the public at large, and that members of the public visiting hospitals be approached with due courtesy and provided the required services promptly. It was also instructed that, instead of conducting "Kayakalp" quality certification inspections once a year, they be conducted quarterly (once every three months) before issuing certificates; and that for the backlog of 8,000 pending CEA (Clinical Establishments Act licences issued to private hospitals) certificates, temporary certificates be issued immediately upon uploading the required information online, with permanent certificates to be issued following a full inspection. Necessary instructions were also given to expedite the inquiry into the kidney racket case, and it was clarified that appropriate action would be taken in this regard.
